HPB Mins 01/24/2007HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 4:00 p.m. -Wednesday City Council Chambers JANUARY 24, 2007 CALL TO ORDER Chair Hernandez called the Historic Preservation Board meeting of Wednesday, January 24, 2007 to order at 4:15 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 70 North First Street, Campbell, California, and the following proceedings were had to wit. ROLL CALL Board Members Present: JoElle Hernandez, Chair Susan Blake, Vice Chair Julie Heinzler Micky Lutz Board Members Absent: Joanna Herz Staff Members Present: Sharon Fierro, Community Development Director Jackie C. Young Lind, AICP, Senior Planner ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR FOR 2007 Vice-Chair Blake nominated Chair Hernandez as the Chair for 2007. Board Members Heinzler and Lutz seconded. Board Member Heinzler nominated Vice-Chair Blake as the Vice-Chair for 2007. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Vice-Chair Blake made a motion to approve the minutes of December 13, 2006. Board Member Heinzler seconded. Approved 4/0. ORAL REQUESTS None. Historic Preservation Board -Regular Meeting Minutes January 24, 2007 Page 2 of 3 NEW BUSINESS, 1. HPB 2007 Proposed Meeting Schedule: Approved as follows, the following Wednesdays at 4 pm (all fourth Wednesdays, except December): January 24 February 28 March 28 April 25 May 23 June 27 July 25 August 22 September 26 October 24 November 28 December 12 OLD BUSINESS 1. Michael Navone attended and transmitted an additional submittal for reconsideration at the February 28, 2007 HPB Meeting. ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMUNICATIONS 1. Ainsley House Federal Register Historic Plaque: Arrived! Brett has it now. CDD Fierro will a-mail a photo. Brett Stollenwerk working with Claudia Cauthorn and Karen Lange on a mounting technique. 2. Conservation Districts: Reviewed article from Vice Chair Blake. CDD Fierro suggested that Second Street be considered an Historic District, and that other areas be considered Conservation Districts. 3. Heritage Trees: Reviewed letter and plaque suggestions from CDD Fierro. Reviewed Chair Hernandez's suggested letter format. CDD Fierro stated that Arbor Day events would need to be coordinated with Parks & Recreation. Vice-Chair Blake contacted Debra Schwartz with the HOA for 129 Orchard regarding the oak tree. Action Item: Vice-Chair Blake to contact the owner at 1236 Harriet. Vice-Chair Blake made a motion requesting Planning staff send the inquiry letter to the property owner at 129 Orchard. Board Member Lutz seconded. Action Item: Senior Planner Young Lind to send the inquiry letter to the property owner at 129 Orchard. Jeanette Watson's Party: Find out who is working on the historic preservation resolution of appreciation for Jeanette Watson. Tailor the resolution specifically to historic preservation and dovetail with any resolution being presented by the City. 5. Work Plan: Work Plan needed for 2007/2008. Senior Planner Young Lind suggested the following work plan items: solicit a volunteer to digitize the Historic Resource Inventory Sheets and prepare a May display for Historic Preservation Month in the case outside of Council Chambers. Vice-Chair Blake suggested that work plan items from 2006/2007 which were programmed as preliminary stages be continued to 2007/2008. 6. Award: A sponsor is needed for the Historic Design Guidelines. The submission deadline is June 2007. Vice-Chair Blake requested that a sponsor be nominated. CDD Fierro suggested Bob Alderete, Tom Francois or Neil Collins. 7. San Lorenzo Valley Museum: Senior Planner Young Lind announced an event to be held this coming Sunday in Boulder Creek regarding an historic exhibit on temperance. 8. Bunnies & Bonnets: Vice-Chair Blake suggested that the Board construct a float for this year's parade on April 7, 2007. Action Item: CDD Fierro to research the National Trust Theme for 2007. ADJOURNMENT The Historic Preservation Board was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. to the scheduled Study Session.
