CALL TO ORDER
Chair Hernandez called the Historic Preservation Board meeting of Wednesday, March
28, 2007 to order at 4:10 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, located at 70 North First
Street, Campbellā California, and the following proceedings were had to wit.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Vice-Chair Blake made a motion to approve the Regular Meeting minutes of February
28, 2006, with the following corrections: Oral Requests: trucks to trunks; and Old
Business/Ainsley National Registry Plaque: Chair Blake to Chair Hernandez. Board
Member Lutz seconded. Approved 4/0.
Chair Hernandez asked if the HPB agendas and minutes could be posted on the
website, and if the meeting time posting could be checked again.

NEW BUSINESS
1. Bike Awareness: Board Member Lutz asked how Matthew Jue could participate in
the Bunnies and Bonnets Parade. Chair Hernandez directed her to Sally Howe with
the Downtown Business Association.
2. 1325 Burrows Road: Acting CDD Young Lind reviewed a Preliminary Proposal for a
three-lot minor land division for this site with an historic home. There is insufficient
land area to accommodate athree-lot split. There is sufficient land area to
accommodate atwo-lot minor land division.
OLD BUSINESS
Heritage Trees: Private property nomination letters were sent. Campbell's twenty-
fifth anniversary as a Tree City USA. Chair Hernandez will contact Norma
Campbell. Vice-Chair Blake will contact Ester Chen and Debra Schwartz.
Parks & Recreation will hear the public tree proposals on April 4, 2007. On April 26,
2007, Mayor Furtado will be at Rosemary Elementary (10:00 am), Redwood
Elementary (1:00 pm) and Forest Hill (4:00 pm) for Arbor Day. A redwood will be
planted at Capri, and a pear will be planted at Rosemary. Chair Hernandez and
Vice-Chair Blake encountered some regulatory difficulties associated with
designating a school district tree a Heritage Tree as the school district is not subject
to City regulations. HPB could instead offer a proclamation recognizing the school
district's care of their trees. Acting CDD Young Lind will prepare the Heritage
Tree staff reports for the 2007 Heritage Tree designations. Mayor Furtado will
present the 2007 Heritage Tree designations on the City Green on April 25, 2007
(4:00 pm). Acting CDD Young Lind to call the press re: the April 25, 2007
event.
2. 235 South First Street: Update on the proposed addition to a residence owned by
Mr. Michael Navone located within the Alice Avenue Historic District: Building Plans
received which reflect HPB's direction.
3. 661 EI Patio Minor Land Division: Applicant agreed to pay the City to have an
Historic Assessment prepared. The Board commented that it was awell-prepared
report.
4. Governor's Award: Update for nomination of the Historic Design Guidelines for
Residential Buildings. Early application deadline is April 27, 2007. Chair
Hernandez to contact Jeanette Watson.
5. CLG Report for 2006/2007: Acting CDD Young Lind to send a PDF version of
the report to HPB.
6. 189 South Third Street: The addition is now complete.

ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMUNICATIONS
1. Feasibility Study for Relocation of the Campbell Historical Museum: City Council
met on March 20, 2007. Presented by Kirk Heinrichs. Approved by Council 3/2
with the caveat that the study look more comprehensively at the future vision for the
museum, not solely museum relocation.
2. Genasci House: Campbell Reporter article ran March 30, 2007.
3. Bunnies & Bonnets Parade: Brett Stollenwerk has been outfitted by Vice-Chair
Blake for his role as Teddy Roosevelt. Meet at Vice-Chair Blake's house at 11:30
am. Vice-Chair Blake prepared a flyer re: Teddy Roosevelt and the Roosevelt
Redwood.
4. City of San Jose's list of Historical and Cultural Consultants: Reviewed list for future
reference.
5. AARP Article: Board Member Lutz brought an article from the AARP re: historic
homes and seniors (attachment).
6. Corri Jimenez's Resume: Chair Vice-Blake presented Corri Jimenez's resume
(attachment).
7. CCWC Building: Acting CDD met with owner Tom Castro re: proposed
improvements.
ADJOURNMENT
The Historic Preservation Board was adjourned at 5:20 p.m. to the Study Session
scheduled to begin immediately following the Regular Meeting.
