BACKGROUND: The owner of the property located at 365 E. Campbell Avenue has requested that his building be designated as an Historic Landmark The building, located at the northeasterly corner of E. Campbell Avenue and N. Central Avenue, was constructed in 1895. The building became the home for Campbell's first bank in 1896 which was founded by some of Campbell's leading citizens - including Benjamin Campbell. The building has been evaluated by the State Office of Historic Preservation as being potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic places. IV. GENERAL PLAN AND ZONING CONSISTENCY A. General Plan Desi~nation: The site is designated for Commercial Land Use in the City's General Plan. The proposed designation of the site as an Historic Landmark is consistent with the General Plan. Zonin~ Desi~nation: The current zoning for the site is C-3-S (Central Business District). The proposed zone change to C-3-S-H will not change the basic uses that are permitted. B. v. MAJOR ISSUES A. This commercial structure represents the first bank built in Campbell in 1895 and as such represents a significant commercial building of that date for this community. 2. The architectural style of this structure represents a typical commercial building at the turn of the century. 3. The building is in good condition and has not been altered significantly.
