I¡ ~ . -2- Boardmember Hebard indicated that he did not have a problem with the intro- duction of windows; however, he would like to see the retention of the metal siding where it currently exists. Mr. Stan Davis, property owner, noted that the majority of the building is wood siding at present; and, continued that the problem with the metal siding is that potential tenants do not like the looks of it. Boardmember Chivers stated that his feelings on this particular~roperty are that it has been an eyesore for many years and he has always wished someone would do something about it. He felt that it was not good for the downtown area to have this building setting there, and stated that the developer should be given approval to go ahead with his plans. Boardmember Burns stated his agreement with Boardmember Chivers. Boardmember Hebard stated that he felt much the same way; however, he . -noted his concern for the change in appearance in the building in that this building:has not been changed very often (unlike the Factory) and retains a great deal of its original looks. Boardmember Hebard con- tinued that he was not sure if the retention of this building was for historic preservation, or {or nostalgia. Even if the appearance is changed, as proposed, it will still be of historic significance to Campbell; and,~perhaþs some of the preservation desires would have to be set aside in order to have the building around longer, although he would like to see the metal siding remain. MIS: Burns, Chivers - That the Historic Preservation Board recommend approval of the presented plans for remodeling of structures on property known as 30 S. Central Ave., and forward these recommendations to the Planning Commission.
