Revised Carport - 2002CITY OF CAMPBELL Community Development Department September 19, 2002 Miriam Alaniz, Manager San Tomas Garden Apartment 825 S. San Tomas Aquino Rd. Campbell, CA 95008 RE: Carport Proposal 825 S. San Tomas Aquino Rd. Dear Property Manager: Thank you for the opportunity to review your proposal to replace the existing carports at San Tomas Gardens with a double post standard design with wood fascias and wood wraps of the support post. The proposed replacement is considered an architectural equivalent to the existing carports and consequently is be supported by the Planning Division. It will be necessary to secure a Building Permit from the Campbell Building Division. Other issues that should be considered in the selection are paint and roof colors, the need for security lighting and the durability of the post supporting the carports. An estimate of the building permits and electrical permit fees based upon a contract price of $64,394.00 is approximately $1642.00. If you should have any questions regarding the review and approval process, please do not hesitate to contact me at (408) 866- 2144. ~ \ ..:-~ Tim Haley Associate Planner Enclosure: Copy of Brochure Bid Proposal cc: Geoff Bradley, Senior Planner J:\COITespondence\825 S. Campbell, CA 95008 RE: Carport Proposal 825 S. San Tomas Aquino Rd. Dear Property Manager: Thank you for the opportunity to review your proposal to replace the existing carports at San Tomas Gardens with a double post standard design carport constructed by Baja Construction. The proposed replacement is not considered an architectural equivalent to the existing carports and consequently would not be supported by the Planning Division. It is recommended that a more architecturally compatible carport be investigated that would complement the building design and materials. The rustic double post design or the 'wood-port' double post design appear to complement the San Tomas Garden apartments better. Once a compatible design is selected, it will be necessary to secure a Building Permit from the Campbell Building Division. Other issues that should be considered in the selection are paint and roof colors, the need for security lighting and the durability of the post supporting the carports. If you should have any questions regarding the review and approval process, please do not hesitate to contact me at (408) 866- 2144.
