Correspondence 2-6-2014CITY of CAMPBELL Community Development Department via CSPS and electronic mail February 6, 2014 Sarah Owen, Natural Hazards Specialist Federal Emergency Management Agency 1111 Broadway, Suite 1200 Oakland, CA 94607-4052 Re: City of Campbell Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance Dear Ms. Owen, This is in response to the January 3, 2014 official reminder from FEMA to Mayor Evan Low that the City of Campbell had until February 19, 2014 to adopt floodplain management measures required by your agency. The City does intend to continue participation in the National Flood Insurance Program. We are unable, however, to have an ordinance with the required amendments effective on February 19, 2014. The City Council has passed the first reading of our amended ordinance on January 7, 2014, and second reading on January 21, 2014. In accordance with the City Municipal Code the enclosed revised ordinance will become effective 30 days after the second reading. As such, the updated Floodplain Management Ordinance will not become effective until February 22, 2014. During this four-day hiatus between February 19 and February 22, 2014, the City will not issue any building permits and use permits in the special flood hazard areas of the City of Campbell designated on the County of Santa Clara Flood Insurance Rate Maps. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Prosser, Associate Planner, at (408) 866-2141.
