Dear Mr. Nelson,
The Community Development Department has reviewed your application for a fence exception for the
fencing along the side yards of your property at 1340 Abbott Avenue. It has been determined that the
requested fence exception:
1. Will not impair vehicular or pedestrian safety;
2. A more desirable site layout will result;
3. Will not be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort or general welfare of the City;
and
4. Will not be detrimental or injurious to property and improvements in the neighborhood or to the
general welfare of the City.
Therefore, your request for a fence exception has been approved. The fence exception is granted for the
above referenced address, subject to the following conditions:
1. The fence will not exceed seven feet in height and will be constructed with redwood. No lattice is
permitted;
2. A fifteen-foot setback will be maintained fi.om the street fi'ont property line; and
3. A building permit will be obtained for construction of the fence since it exceeds six feet in height.
Structural calculations will be required for the building permit.

The Community Development Department has received and reviewed your application for a fence
exception for the side property lines of your property at 1340 Abbott Avenue. Your application has
been deemed incomplete. In order to consider the application, please submit the following materials:
1. Elevation of a typical portion of the fence; and
2. Letter of Consent from adjacent neighbor (Kems).
The fence will not be allowed within 15 feet of the front property line.

This transmittal is to request that we be granted a fence exception to allow for
the construction of a new redwood fence at a height of 7'-0" on our property. This fence
height will be installed in three locations and will be added to an existing 7'-0" high
redwood fence that is already installed on the property.
This existing 7'-0" high fence was constructed by the previous property owner
with the co-operation of the three adjacent property owners. The new fence
construction will match the specs of the adjacent existing fence.
