Dear Mr. Chtchetinin:
Please be advised that the Community Development Director with the concurrence of the
Land Development Manager, on behalf of the City Engineer, has reviewed your request for an
underground utilities waiver to permit overhead services to the remodeled home at the above-
referenced property in lieu of the requirement ~o underground utilities on the site.
This request cannot be approved since there is a high likelihood that other utility lines will be
placed underground in the area in the future and the additional costs incurred to underground
the utilities will not be substantial because the utility pole is in ftont of the house.
If you have any questions regarding this detennination, please do not hesitate to contact the

Please find attached a letter requesting a waiver to allow overhead utility services to a residence that is
being remodeled at 1159 Sonuca Avenue. The local ordinance indicates that the Planning Director with
the concurrence of the City Engineer may grant such a waiver. The Land Development Manager has
previously been delegated the responsibility of the City Engineer's review.
Your review and recommendation regarding this request would be appreciated by May 22, 2001.

REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF UNDERGROUND UTiliTIES

I am requesting a waiver from underground utilities installation for the
reasons stated bellow:
1. there are currently overhead utilities to the existing house
2. the whole neighborhood has overhead utilities
3. all service to the neighbors on both sides of my property passes through
my property because the main transformer is located in front of my
property. See photographs attached.
