Address Change Request - 2002 Bill Bruckart From: Sent: To: Subject: Darleen Becker Monday, September 30, 2002 5:29 PM Sharon Fierro; Bill Bruckart ADDRESS CHANGE High 4--0& -' '3 :5 - 004 Importance: Sharon: SUBJECT: Address Change; I have been working with Drina Bracic regarding a house she wants to buy but her husband will not buy it because the address is 666 W. Sunnyoaks. I have done the following research and found that I cannot change this address for the following reasons. 1. ~ (¡f/ ~ 3. 3. I use The Building Division policy per Bill Bruckart is to not change addresses regardless of the reason as not to favor one religion or ethic group or for any other reasons. If we did it for one we would have to do it for all reasons and this would create mayhem. {o ~ ¿f There are no open address numbers to change the number to that are available. Next door E i~nd W is This is a townhouse complex and all addresses are even so after checking with the post office about 1/2 or A or B, or out of sequence numbering there is nothing open to us. I checked with the Emergency Services for the Campbell area, (Campbell Police Dept) Lisa Tait, and asked her if an out-of-sequence address or an A or B or 1/2 would be okay and she said it was not a good practice as the emergency teams might have trouble finding the address or the confusion could cause harm to someone who needs emergency attention immediately. I checked with AIS (Address Information Systems) This is the main Post Office's division that assigns mail areas. these agency to check with when setting up addressing as they have a really well set-up matrix map. I discussed address alternatives with AIS's supervisor regarding 664 or 6681/2 and A or B's but concluded that it would only confuse the people who are mailing material to that house (as they would forget to add the A or B or 1/2) and subsequently would be an inconvenience for the neighbor next door with the original address as they would be getting their mail if it was marked incorrectly. Policy being number 1, emergency services being 2 and no address number being 3, we cannot do this address change. ~ 2f7- ß(Þ ~~ Ä'i /N þ oovµly Darleen Becker Permit Technician C;(/\~ 1 10l03/2002 08:29 AM To: Don Burr <donb@cityofcampbell.com> cc: Subject: RE: Potential address change?~ Drina Bracic Hello Don: Thanks for getting back to me. I wanted to follow up and see if there are any possibilities. I am really still very interested in the property which I believe the only property on the market in Campbell for this long. I would like to take this one step further if necessary and possibly ask for contact information possibly someone higher up? Asking for an address change for another numerical combination is one thing but 666 is quite another. When my realtor called the planning office in Campbell, someone indicated, " I thought we took care of all those 666 addresses years ago." Yes, all but one. Ronald Regan changed his 666 address and although, I am not a former President, I beg you for your time and help. On the American dollar it states, "In God we trust", than why call the devil every moment we write our POTENTIAL address. If you refer to the 666 address on the internet you will see that they are rare. It is my understanding that the manager in the Campbell planning office indicated, "If we change one, we must change them all." That is NOT the case. First of all, who would know? If EMS is the problem, can the current owners and I make a donation to the City of Campbell? We are not wealthy but are that serious about helping one another and changing this 666 address. Another thing that came up was that the Asian population does not like certain number combinations. I am not Asian but a white American and EVERY CULTURE is aware of this bad 666 address. (this is why this home is on the market for so long.) Would it be easier to change the address if I was the home owner? If I purchase this property can I change it once I own it? Should I now contact Santa Clara? PLEASE HELP with any suggestions. What are the laws regarding this in Santa Clara? Any religious rights? I am an American Catholic, and IN GOD I TRUST! We 3re net far."!t!cs but do be!i~'Je in the bad luck that these 3 numbers toge~her possess. Hello Matthew: I have been working with the Campbell Planning office in regards of changing an address. The property is a residential townhome. It is in Campbell and we are interested in purchasing this property. The only problem is the house number is 666 West Sunnyoaks Avenue. Having this address is making the current home owners have a difficult time to sell this property and we are very interested in the property. This is a bad address and was wondering how to go about changing this. I called and spoke with Darlene at the Campbell City office and she indicated that EMS said, NO. I would not want to change this address until I purchased the home. But we will not purchase the property unless we could later in time change the address. Campbell is our ideal location and city to live in and this property is within our economical reach. We are currently residents of San Jo:;e and would really love any help that you can offer. Many thanks in advance for reading my concerns. Regards, Drina Bracic Senior Project Buyer drT~p~~am 40~-9d ~-5~ ~5 9 ~ /f;c!.2¿,... Fx: 408-918-5165 Drina.
