Dead Tree Removal Permit - 2014Page 1 of 1 Mariya Wodge From: Mike Altieri [MikeA@PlaygroundsUnlimited.net] Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2014 12:59 PM To: Mariya Hodge Subject: Tree Permit Follow Up Hi Mariyah, thank you for following up with an appointment to come and see the tree in question, 10:30-11:00 AM tomorrow 12/3/14. I had previously prepared the statement below for your file to be sent along with any information from my landscape contractor. RE: Diseased Redwood Altieri Residence 218 Hardy Ave Campbell G~ 95008 To Whom It May Concern, Approximately 18 months ago I had a landscape contractor I work with come out to look at the condition of my Redwood Tree, 1 of 3 located at the rear of my property. At this time, there was evident browning foliage and stripping of limbs from the trunk. It was recommended to prune the dying limbs in hope that new ones would generate. Curing the pruning it was noted that the tree is internally diseased and will eventually need to be removed, (possibly either fatal trunk canker or sudden oak death). It was recommended to increase water during the summer months and add some nutrient rich soils to the area as well as ground cover/mulch at the base to try ~jnd extend the trees life. Although I followed these instructions, the tree has continued to decline. It is now evident that more than 60-70% of the limbs have either broken off and/or are browning. It has been recommend that the tree be removed which will also hopefully allow a better chance of sustainability for his two remaining redwoods.
