Application: Authorization to Remove Dead or Dying Tree
Dear Applicant,
The Campbell Planning Division has completed review of your Authorization to Remove Dead or
Dying Tree application (PLN2015-250) for removal of one (1) redwood tree measuring over 12" in
diameter located in the front yard of the above address.
Based upon a review of the application documents and a visual inspection of the tree on August 19,
2015, the Planning Division is unable to determine that the tree is dead or dying and the application has
been deemed incomplete. While the tree is visibly stressed, new growth was observed at the base and
it's possible the tree can recover with some care and maintenance, such as providing irrigation and
protecting the roots with a layer of mulch, for example.
Pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code Sec. 21..32.065 (C), the community development director may
require preparation of an.arborist report when the condition or viability of the tree is not readily evident.
Therefore to consider your application, please submit an arborist report prepared by a certified arborist
to determine if the tree's condition cannot be reversed. Note that if removal is recommended, the
arborist/company who prepared the arborist report cannot be involved in the tree's removal per
Campbell Municipal Code Section 21.32.155.
