RE: Window Replacement at 51 Alice Avenue
Dear Mr. Foertsch:
Thank for taking the time to prepare exhibits and meet with me regarding your planned window
replacements. As you are aware, your home on Alice Avenue is in a designated Historic District.
Exterior changes require review and approval by the Community Development Department.
The following window replacements have been reviewed and approved:
1. Replacement of three double hung windows on the east elevation with wood double hung
windows.
2. Replacement of four double hung windows on the west elevation with wood double hung
windows.
This approval was made based on the following findings:
1. That the new windows will not detract from the historic appearance of the home.
2. Attempts to repair and replace in-kind were made with the original diamond-topped
windows. The cost to repair and replace was prohibitive.
3. The original windows are being retained at the front elevation and on the projecting element
(over the kitchen sink) on the west elevation.
4. The windows to be replaced on the west elevation were re-located to this portion of the
house during the 2003 remodel and addition.
5. The original trim design and profiles will be retained on the exterior.
Enclosed are the approved plans. Please do not hesitate to contact me at (408)866-2124 if you have
questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
