Purpose of the proposed improvement is to improve the
La Fonda corner of Bascom and Campbell intersection which is
owned by another family member.
First tenant will he the "Bridal Service" currently
being operated from an old 'house on this property which
estimates a requirement for between 800 and 1.200 square
feet.
Remainder of building is es:.encially speculative,
however interest has been expressed by a florist, photographer
iand a tuxedo rental operation as prospective tenants, all
being related to the bridal service or wedding service
accivities.
it is intended that the new building shall compliment
in color and style t'.ie existing La Fonda building, and the
types of activitis anticipated will be such as not to conflict
with the main business hours of the La Fonda and will thus
provide extensive a:ditional parking facilities for both.
Tentative discussions have been held wish Mr. Vollen-
weider, and it is possible that the rear parking area ad-
joing his property may be opened up to provide access to both
Campbell Avenue and Arroyo Seco Drive without entry into
the Bascom Avenue flow of traffic.

Mr. Arthur Kee
Director of Planning
Campbell, California
re: La Fonda Corner
Dear Mr. Kee:
Per the instructions of your staff. I enclose four
copies of the proposed revision of the recently approved
plan for the development of 2020 S. Bascon Ave.
The red lines indicate the location of the parking spaces
on the east boundary of the property of the La Fonda as approved.
The revision we wish to make is reflected in the blue
lines.
The purpose is obvious of course. Phase III of the
corner development is still in the planning stage, but will
be presented to you for consideration in due course.
By moving the parking spaces on the easterly boundary
seven feet to the west, we avoid the necessity for relocating
all of these spaces under our Phase III plans.
All parking spaces and driveways remain at or in excess
of code requirements.
The enlarged planter area also shown was effected by
reducing parking spaces in the center strip to exactly 9 x 20
rather than the larger spaces originally planned.
As a matter of interest, we have decided to convey the
property at 2020 S. Bascom into a common ownership with the
present La Fonda property immediately. This will eliminate
problems potential from the present divided ownership.
Sincerely,
Maur,ice L. Martin
