Property is in escrow and the bank is working with Swenson Company on leasing space in a building that will be constructed on the site. Presently, we have a temporary office located on this property of which we had previously received an extension to June 5, 1977. Because of the sale and time required to construct the new facility, I hereby request, on behalf of The Westlands Bank, a further extension of twelve (12) months to June 5, 1978. In talking with the Swenson Representative, it appears that this would be more than ample time to place us in permanent quarters. Your approval of this request would be greatly appreciated. Manley, Assistant Civil Engineer, I am requesting a twelve-month extension of time for the temporary Westlands Bank facility, located on 1777 South Bascom Avenue, Campbell. Our present permit is scheduled to expire on June 5, 1976. At the present time, we are actively involved in several alternative approaches to the construction of our permanent Bank facility. We are considering sale -and -lease -back arrangements as well as construction of a facility on our own. We anticipate that in any event, actual construction will commence toward the latter part of this year, and hopefully, we will be able to occupy sometime in the early part of 1977. We are also engaged in discussions with Mr. Helms, Engineering Manager, concerning the location of an access road through our 6ascmi Avenue property. Since all these variables will have a bearing on the location and physical configuration of a permanent Bank building, we would appreciate an extension on our temporary facility for one year, expiring June 5, 1977. The applicant has submitted a letter ad- vis_ng that the plans are to be revised. and, therefore, t::c cxt•.asion of time is necessary for the temporary facility. Commissioner Cook asked Mr. Kee if he did not think that the 18 month extension was a little bit too long. Mr. Kee stated that previous approvals have been granted for extens-ons of time on temporary facilities which have gone beyond 18 months. He advised that extensions of time on site approvals are usually for a 12 month period. However, he was not aware of any set rule for extensions of time for temporary uses. Commissioner Cook stated that he would prefer to grant the 12 month extension and then have the applicant re -apply if necessary, Commissioner Cook moved that a 12 month extension of time be granted Nestlands Sank for their temporary facility located at 1777 South Bascom.. Avenue ("S" 73-51), seconded by Commissioner Hebard and unanimously adopted, Mr. Kee advised the Commission that Mr. Fitzpatrick, represen,:ing Best.anes bank, had just arrived and Chairman Alexander advised Mr. Fitzpatrick of the action taken by the Commission, Mr. Fitzpatrick stated that they had requested the 18 month extension on the temporary facility as there is presently a merger situation involving the bank. He advised that the bank will he built just as soon as feasible and as soon as definite plans are made as a result of the merger. Chairman Alexander asked Mr. Fitzpatrick if the 12 month extension would hurt them, and Mr. Fitzpatrick stated that he did not think it would but they would rather not have to come back and ask for more time, 2 1. Chairman Alexander advised Mr. Fitzpatrick that the Planninp Commission action was based on the customary extensions of J2 months and the letter was not clear as to why the extension should be for 18 months. Commissioner Hebard stated that in granting the extension, the C,immission was also granting an extension of the existing, plans and it is the policy of the Commission to grant one extension on the existing plans. They do not want a set of plans with an approval for over tun years as changes might occur and it might be necessary to have revisions to the approved plans. Mr. Fitzpatrick slated that he was pretty sure there will he some modification:: to the plans and indicated that the 12 month extension was agreteble.
