Bascom Avenue - Performance Bicycle Shop Dear Vern: Please be advised that the Planning Department, based upon a further review of the previous signing program approved for the Hamilton Plaza Shopping Center, has determined that two (2) wall mounted signs may be approved for the Performance Bicycle Shop. This approval allows the installation of a 50 square foot sign facing east Hamilton Avenue, and a 40 square foot sign facing the parking area along the westerly elevation. It is the Planning Department's understanding that the applicant is not seeking identification on a free standing sign at this time. Prior to the installation of these signs, please secure any necessary electrical or building permits. It is my understanding from Mr. Craig Maynard of Cal -Neon Signs that the sign program does include Hamilton Avenue. I have enclosed a copy of the approved criteria. With regards to the sizing of the fascia signs the criteria is leery specific. If the tenant so desires to alter the criteria, they will need to first apply for approval. Thn monument sign submitted is not consistent to the final design for either street. Performance only has Landlord approval for the Bascom Avenue monument sign. Once the final design is approved, I will advise the tenant to seek City approval. Please call me if you have any questions. This approval allows the installation of one 50 square foot sign along the Hamilton Avenue frontage, and is subject to the .onclition that the applicant obtain any necessary building or electrical permits. The issue of the wall sign facing the parking area (the west elevation) and the issue of a tenant panel on the freestanding sign must be considered by tl+e Planning Commission. The second wall mounted sign should not exceed 38 square feet based on the 38 linear feet of business frontage. The tenant sign on the freestanding sign would not be supported by staff in that it is not consistent with the previous shopping center identification sign approved by the Planning Commission. If you or your applicant wishes to pursue apvroval of either these two signs, please advise the Planning Department so that it may be agendized for a Planning Commission agenda.
