Dear Mr. Peterson:
Please be advised that the Planning Director has denied your signing request
for a new free standing sign on the above referenced property. The Planning
Director's decision is based upon the standards set forth in the Sign
Ordinance, which would limit the sign height to 14 feet, the sign area to 50
square feet, and would require that the sign be architecturally compatible to
the building or site of which it is associated. Your signing proposal exceeds
the maximum height of 14 feet, and the sign area of 50 square feet provided in
the Sign Ordinance.
Additionally, the Planning Director is not supportive of a *eferral of the
signage request to the Commission to consider a larger or higher sign than
normally permitted. The Commission in its consideration of a signing
request must adopt one of the following findings:
1. The site is unusually difficult to locate in comparison to other
properties so situated.
2. The enforcement of the Sign Ordinance would provide inadequate
identification of the commercial center.
3. The project is such a size or so located in r-ference to traffic
circulation that larger or higher signage is warranted.
The Planning Director's decision may bs appealed to the Planning
Commission within ten days following this action.
