We refer to our application for a use permit and "S" approval to construct a gasoline service station at the SWC of the intersection of Bascom and Familton Avenues in Campbell, California. Our request stems from a need to serve :'obil Oil cus- tomers in a large marketing area where we presently do not have any distribution. The two arterials carry a substantial amount of traffic and the intersection is protected with traffic signals and free right turn lanes. On the northwest corner is a Standard Oil service station, rebuilt in 1963, there Is a shopping center on the southeast corner and the northeast corner, which was recently annexed to the City of San Jose, is being, developed for commercial purposes. The southwest corner contains a small drive-in restaurant, e which will be removed prior to the construction of the 1 service station. The service station site is large enough to accommodate easy ingress and eF.ress and adequate parking will be provided. The removal of the small restaurant on the corner will increase the visibility at the intersection, and the new station facilities will greatly improve and upgrade the appearance of the area.
