CC Resolution 13153 - Approving a Downtown Special Event Permit for Boogie Music Festival 2024 RESOLUTION NO. 13153 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL • AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A DOWNTOWN SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT TO THE CAMPBELL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WHEREAS, in February 2024, the Campbell Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) applied to the City of Campbell (City) for a Downtown Special Event Permit (Permit) that would allow the Chamber to hold its Boogie Music Festival 2024 (Boogie) in Downtown Campbell from Saturday May 18, 2024, through Sunday, May 19, 2024; and WHEREAS, the City's Downtown Special Event Policy (Permit Policy) provides general guidelines, as follows: • The event must contribute to the economic enhancement, cultural enrichment and/or promotion of the City. • The event must not severely disrupt normal business and residential traffic patterns. • The proposed site must be suitable for the event, with consideration given to adequate space, traffic flow, parking, electricity, health and safety requirements, and impact on the site. • The Organizer must pay for all City services as required by City Council Policy. • The alcohol sales will be by permit only; and WHEREAS, the Boogie event has taken place in Campbell for over 25 years; offers food, community performers, and more than 100 fine artists from around the Bay Area; provides cultural enrichment; promotes the City; and enhances the City's economy; and WHEREAS, through its work with City staff, the Chamber has been able to ensure that the event is held in a suitable location; does not severely disrupt normal business or residential traffic; operates in a manner that avoids health and safety hazards; and includes sufficient Police Department personnel to provide proper traffic control, and security, and to ensure the orderly conduct of organizers and visitors alike; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that based on the information the Chamber provided, the Chamber's Boogie event meets all the requirements to support the issuance of a Downtown Special Event Permit; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby authorize the issuance of a Downtown Special Event Permit for the Chamber's Boogie Music Festival 2024, subject to all applicable City policies and procedures and any additional conditions set forth by the City related to the event. Publicity -and promotions will consist of extensive multi-media campaigns and will include print, radio, mobile and electronic media outlets. With Official Programs, posters and postcards that will be distributed throughout the Bay Area prior to the event. 1 Posters will be distributed to merchants, community organizations, city offices, libraries, and schools throughout the Bay Area.
