Pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code section 20.36.150, this request has been granted because the closest utility pole is located across California Street in the front yard of property 336 California Street and 350 California Street and the limited likelihood that other utility lines will be placed underground in the neighborhood. The present utility services are connected to a pole across California Street and requiring the property owner to underground the utility services for the proposed single family addition would be a tremendous financial burden on them. Also, I gather from Ed that we have allowed overhead utility connections to proposed developments in the past if the connections are across the street. The local ordinance indicates that the Planning Director with the concurrence of the City Engineer may grant such a waiver. The Land Development Manager has previously been delegated the responsibility ofthe City Engineer's review.
