Dear Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder:
Thank you for your submittal of a Fence Exception Application for a fence exception on
property located at 1371 Cameo Drive. The Fence Exception provides for a six-foot tall fence
along the street side (eastern) property line where a 15-foot side yard setback is required.
The Community Development Director, upon recommendation from the Public Works Director,
has determined that the requested Fence Exception:
1. Will not impair vehicular or pedestrian safety;
2. Will result in a more desirable site layout from a maintenance and use standpoint;
3. Will not be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort or general
welfare of the City; and
4. Will not be detrimental or injurious to property and improvements in the
neighborhood or to the general welfare of the City.
Therefore, your request for a Fence Exception has been approved. The Fence Exception is
granted for the street side (eastern) property line, subject to the following conditions of approval:
1. The Fence Exception is valid for a period of one year from the date of approval. A
building permit must be obtained or the fence installed within this one-year period or the
Fence Exception shall be void.
2. The applicant shall obtain any necessary building permits from the Campbell Building
Division prior to installation of the fence.
3. The street side fence shall not exceed six (6) feet in height. The approved design consists
of a five (5) foot high board on board "good neighbor" wood fence with a one (1) foot
high wooden lattice.

4. The fence shall be contained entirely within the property lines and shall not encroach
onto adjacent properties or the public right-of-way.
5. The existing driveway shall be removed prior to installation of the fence.
6. A minimum of one covered parking space, one uncovered parking space, and new
driveway, which takes access from Cameo Drive, shall be provided prior to installation of
the fence.

We, Richard and Nancy Schroeder are requesting a fence exception for our home located at 1371 Cameo Drive.
We have lived at our current address for over 5 years and are planning to remodel our home soon.
In planning our home addition, we have decided to maintain a single story home and in doing so, must put all
new construction in our rear yard. To maximize the aesthetics as well as our privacy, we would like to build
a six foot high fence along our side (Flamingo Drive) property line. Note, that we will maintain the triangular
area measuring 30 feet along the front and side property lines.
We believe the proposed new fence will result in a more desirable site layout for our property while maintaining
both pedestrian and vehicular safety.

I am writing you with my approval for the proposed fence on the property located at 1371 Cameo Drive in
Campbell. I have discussed and reviewed the plans with the owner, Richard Schroeder. My address is
265 Flamingo Avenue, on the corner of Flamingo and Bent.
I do not object to the fence going on the (Flamingo side) property line and believe it will enhance the
neighborhood.
