Utility Waiver - 2004May 24, 2004 Juan 1. Mendez 580 S. 14th Street San Jose, CA 95112 Re: File No. PLN2004-57 Underground Utilities Waiver 340 Harrison Avenue Dear Mr.Mendez: Please be advised that the Community Development Director, with the concurrence of the City Engineer, has reviewed your request to permit overhead services in lieu of the requirement to underground the utilities in conjunction with the remodel of your residence on the above-referenced property. Pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code section 20.36.150, this request has been granted because the closest utility pole is located across Harrison Avenue in the front yard of property 340 Harrison Avenue and the limited likelihood that other utility lines will be placed underground in the neighborhood. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (408) 866-2144 or by email at timh@cityofcampbell.com. Sincerely, Tim 1. Harrison- Utility Waiver. doc Request for Waiver Underground Utilities May ~, 2004 Dear Planning Division, I would respectfully request a waiver for changing the existing overhead utility to an underground utility connection when any addition to a home occurs. The proposed project consists of adding two bedrooms and a bath to the back of the house located at 340 Harrison A venue. The project will take a small cramped home and turn it into a more comfortable family friendly residence. My request for the waiver is based on: no movement of the existing utility connection or main utility panel, retaining the aesthetics of the neighborhood (currently all utility services are located overhead throughout the block), avoiding marring the surface of what looks like a fairly recent street pavement, deferring the substantial cost of conversion to the intended project and finally avoiding the inconvenience to my neighbors caused by shutting down the street to through traffic during the construction.
