Dear Mr. Derakshandeh,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding the installation of a circular driveway in front of your residence on
the referenced property. The Community Development Director recognizes that this property in close
proximity to the nearby intersection thus making it difficult to back into San Tomas Aquino Rd. The San
Tomas Neighborhood guidelines also encourages the provision of landscaping in the front yard areas that
maintains 50 percent ofthe required 20 foot front yard setback as unpaved.
Consequently, the Community Development Director is supportive of your request, subject to the
following conditions:
] ) That you submit a landscape plan showing the installation of upgraded landscaping in the
remaining unpaved area;
2) That you provide a decorative paving material in the new driveway area on-site to enhance the
appearance of the paving and to differentiate it from the other paved portions of the front yard;
3) That you replant the planting wells in the park strip along the street with appropriate plant
materials; and
4) That you obtain an encroachment permit from the Public Works Department for the new
driveway approach in the public right-of-way.

I have recently purchased the property at 1504 W San Tomas Aquino Road in Campbell,
CA and have resided at this residence since mid-June of 2004.
Since our move in date, there have been several instances where my wife and other
members of my family have had near-accidents pulling out of our home's driveway. As
you may know, the driveway of this property is in close proximity to the comer of San
Tomas Aquino Road and Harriet, where primarily the lack of a stop sign for cars driving
down Harriet toward San Tomas Aquino Road and subsequently making a right turn onto
W San Tomas Aquino Road is - and according to neighbors - has been the cause of
numerous accidents in the past.
F or the safety of my wife and family and other drivers, I am proposing to revise the
driveway of this property from a standard driveway to a semi-circular driveway. Please
see attached plan that includes the existing driveway as well as the proposed driveway.
