Dear Mr. And Mrs. Liberman,
The Community Development Department has reviewed your application for a fence exception for the fencing
along the rear yard of your property at 1059 Bent Drive. The proposed fence exception would provide an
additional two (2) feet of concrete block fence between your property and the property at 2200 S. Bascom
Avenue that is owned by Patrick Chau. The addition fence height would provide a consistent fence height (since
there is already an eight-foot fence on a portion of the property line) and additional privacy and safety between
you and the commercial restaurant use on Mr. Chau's property.
It has been determined that the requested fence exception:
1. Will not impair vehicular or pedestrian safety;
2. A more desirable site layout will result; .
3. Will not be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort or general welfare of the City; and
4. Will not be detrimental or injurious to property and improvements in the neighborhood or to the general
welfare of the City.
Therefore, your request for a fence exception has been approved. The fence exception is granted for the above
referenced address, subject to the following conditions:
1. The fence will not exceed eight feet in height and will be constructed to match the existing fence in
material and color;
2. A building permit will be obtained for construction of the fence since it exceeds six feet in height.
Structural calculations will be required for the building permit.

I would like to formally request a fence exception on my property located at 1059 Bent
Drive in Campbell (parcel number 288-06-039).
The reason for my request is twofold. First, there is an existing fence with two differem
elevations, one six feet, the other eight. I would like to raise the elevation to create
consistency throughout the entire length of the fence. Secondly, the adjoining property is
a fast food restaurant. There is often loitering, and what would be considered illegal
activity, in the back of the restaurant next to my property. This creates safety concerns.
A higher fence will offer greater separation between my property and the restaurant, and
will help ease some of our safety concerns.
