Re: Temporary Sign for Farmer's Insurance at 166 W. Campbell Avenue
Dear Mr. Dunk:
On July 16, 2001, I approved a 30-day temporary installation of an individual letter sign for the
above-referenced business despite the fact that such an installation is not a typical one under the
Temporary Sign Ordinance. I approved your request because you had this sign available for
immediate but temporary use while your permanent sign request was being processed. At that
time you assured me that an application for a permanent freestanding sign for this business was
eminent. The Planning secretary advised me that you called this week seeking an extension of
that temporary sign permit for another 90 days. However, your sign application for permanent
signage has not yet been submitted to this department.
Jerry, the short-term approval granted was based upon your commitment to follow up in a timely
manner with your permanent sign plans. I am not prepared to extend this deadline for the use of
this individual letter signage. You now have a permanent sign that you are improperly utilizing
as temporary signage. This signage is now considered illegal. Please remove the signage and
either process your freestanding sign request or submit a complete application for a permanent
wall sign. Failure to comply will result in Code Enforcement action by the City.
