Underground Utility Waiver

Dear Ms. Adams:
Please be advised that the Community Development Director with the concurrence of the
Land Development Manager. on behalf of the City Engineer, has reviewed your request to
permit overhead services in conjunction with the proposed addition to your existing residence
on the above-referenced property in lieu of the requirement to underground the utilities.
This request has been granted as a waiver of the requirement to underground utilities due to
the limited likelihood that other utility lines will be placed underground in your neighborhood
and the additional cost of having to underground the utility lines.
If you should have any questions regarding this determination, please do not hesitate to
contact the undersigned at (408) 866-2140.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Willsey

I am applying for a waiver of underground utilities for the following
reasons:
1- The shared easement driveway would have to be torn up to bury the
wires, which would impact the neighbors access for several weeks. The
neighbor's house is on the market to be sold.
2- The time involved before PGE can inspect the work is considerable. It
has been quoted to us as approximately 4 to 6 months before they check
over the plans, and another few months to complete the work.
3- The cost ($5000 to $7000) required to bury the wires is much more than
the budget we have set for the remodeling. It would be a major impact in
my finances, which will complicate the matter in completing the project.
I would very much appreciate your consideration in granting me the waiver,
Sincerely,
Sophie Adams
