Subject: Fence Exception for 7 foot tall fence at Hacienda Village
Dear Ms. Toth,
Your request for a fence exception to replace the Village's existing 6 foot high fence with a 7 foot
fence has been received by the Planning Division. To process your request, you will need to submit
an application for a fence exception. I have enclosed this application for you to complete and
submit. Please not that in order to approve the fence exception, the Community Development
Director, Traffic Engineer, and Public Works Director must make significant findings as listed on
the application. In addition, you will need to get a written and signed statement from all adjacent
property owners stating that they do not object to the proposed fence.
Any structure over 6 feet in height, including a fence, requires a building permit. However, it is
recommended that you wait until your fence is approved by the Planning Division before applying
for a building permit.
Should you have any questions regarding your application, please feel free to contact me at 866-
2193.
Sincerely,
Darcy Smith

Gentlemen:
Hacienda Village, located at 440-492 Hacienda Avenue, Campbell is a small complex of 23
town-house style condominiums completed in 1980. Our fences are 20 years old and will soon
need replacement.
Our Home Owners Association is considering replacing our perimeter fence along Hacienda
Avenue, Walnut Street and, adjacent to the percolation pond with 7' tall fences. We see the need
for increased privacy for our residents especially as we have a bus stop near the corner of
Hacienda Ave and Walnut Street.
Please, advise whether 7' tall fence would be permissible? Also, do we need to file for any
permits? We are planning to replace the existing fence with the same style fence, at the same
location, only a little taller.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Erika Toth, President
