Dear Mr. Weinmann:
The Community Development Director has conditionally approved your fencing exception request to
install an arbor and a decorative fence as an entry feature to the existing apartment development on the
referenced property. This approval is effective in ten days on or after May 30, 2002 and is subject to the
condition that you secure building permits. This exception is based upon the following findings:
That the requested fence exception: 1. Will not impair vehicular or pedestrian safety;
2. Will result in a more desirable site layout;
3. Will not be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort or general welfare of the
City; and
4. Will not be detrimental or injurious to property and improvements in the neighborhood or to the
general welfare of the City.
Two copies of the approved plans have been transmitted to the Building Division for the issuance of
building permits. Please contact Frank Mills at 408.866.2134 regarding the issuance of building permits
for these arbor structures.

Letter of Request for Fence Exception
We are requesting this fence exception in order to construct this fence and trellis/arbor
according to the plans we submitted dated April 24, 2002.
We desire this arbor and fence to enhance the curb appeal and aesthetic appearance at the
main sign on this property, thus creating a focal point to the public as they both drive and
walk by the apartments.
The creation of this structure will not only enhance the look of the from of the property
but create both a symbolic and functional entry to the apartment complex, as these
walkways are the only pedestrian pathways into the property. Upgrades to the existing
landscaping adjacent to this area will also improve the appearance of the property.
At this location, behind the main sign and at the junction of several walkways, there has
been a paved patio with seating since the property was first developed. The old bench
was cast in place concrete and was removed some time ago due to its deteriorated state
and unattractive appearance. This proposed structure will provide new seating under the
shade of the trellis, where the residents can once again gather, interact and meet their
guests.
As you know, many newer developments now incorporate convenience seating with
shade at the front of the property to support those residents using public transportation,
carpooling or assisted transportation. We are confident this proposal is consistent with
the City of Campbell goals and community standards and will be well received within our
community.
