First Street Campbell, CA 95008 RE: Fence Exception for 1374 Munro Avenue - Letter of Request Dear Planning Division: The proposed fence design for our front property line consists of 6x6 inch redwood posts with an alternating style picket in between the posts. This design consists of 2x2 inch pickets alternating between 24 inches and 46 inches per the attached elevation drawing. This type of fence is very decorative and is seen on some older homes. The tops of the posts are at 48 inches above grade and the higher pickets are 46 inches above grade. While the fence is 6 inches higher than the 42 inches allowed, the alternating picket heights allows for a more open appearance. A 7 foot, 10 inch high arbor is' proposed over the walkway. This trellis will provide a gateway for the front yard and provide support for climbing vines. The fence and arbor is proposed as all redwood, primed and painted white. The fence along the eastern property line consists of a 6 foot good neighbor style wood fence with a 3 foot green wire grid extension for the support of growing vines. A fence at this location requires a Fence Exception if over 6 feet tall. The additional height consists of variable heights (2 and 3 feet) of green wire grid to support climbing vines. This fence improves the view from the living room and kitchen and partially screens out the adjacent RV parked on the neighbor's property. The wire grid is supported by lx2 inch redwood extensions of the existing fence posts. The entire extension is very light weight and visually unobtrusive, simply creating a point of attachment for the climbing vines. Please accept this application for a Fence Exception and don't hesitate to call with any questions.
