Tree Permit - 2001 CITY oF CAMPBELL Community Development Department - Current Planning May 1, 2001 Nick Lallas 149 Redding Road Campbell, CA 95008 RE: Tree Removal Permit (PLN 2001-46) - 149 Redding Road Dear Mr. Lallas: The Community Development Director has conditionally approved your application for a Tree Removal Permit Permit (PLN 2001-46) to remove one (1) Monterey pine trees currently located in the side yard of property located at 149 Redding Road, subject to the following condition: 1. One (1) 24-inch box evergreen pear tree will be planted on the property to replace the pine tree on or before June 11, 2001, per the Tree Protection Ordinance. The Tree Removal Permit has been approved based upon the City's determination, with a supporting recommendation by an I.S.A. Certified Arborist, that the tree has outgrown its planting space and has poor structural health. The tree is damaging the underground utilities and is lifting the wooden deck and concrete patio on the property. The tree can potentially cause substantial damage to existing main residential building on the property and adjacent properties. Staff has determined that the situation cannot be reasonably remedied by means other than removal. This approval is final in 10 days, unless an appeal is received in writing at the City of Campbell City Clerk's Office, 70 N. First Street, Campbell, on or before Friday May I!, 2001. A notice of tree removal will be posted on the property where it is visible to the public. The notice will also be sent out to all the property owners within 300 feet of your property. The tree may not be removed until after the 10-day appeal per/od has passed and no appeals have been received within this time period. Should you have any questions regarding the above referenced matter, please do not hesitate to contact me at the Community Development Department at (408) 866-2193. Campbell CA After inspecting the Momerey Pine tree located in the back yard of the above address, I have come to the conclusion that the tree needs to be removed for the following reasons: The tree has grown too large for the location it is in, and could soon pose a hazard to the surrounding homes, and the pool it is located near. The root system of this tree poses a threat to the foundation of the home, as well as the pool. There is no way to install an effective root barrier because of where the tree is located, This tree also has poor structure. Poor structure in a tree this large is an immediate threat to the safety to the surrounding homes, as well as those enjoying the pool area.
