Sign - 2000.OF ' c'4~,o CITY OF CAMPBELL Community Development Department December 5, 2000 Business Manager Public Storage 509 Salmar Avenue Campbell, CA 95008 RE: Temporary Signs at 509 Salmar Ave - Public Storage Dear Sir: A site visit has revealed that you have installed two (2) wall signs on the side of the Public Storage building facing Salmar Avenue and one (1) banner sign on the fence to the south of the main building that were not approved and that do not comply with the requirements of the Sign Ordinance. These signs were requested to be removed on July 24, 2000 in order to gain approval for the sign permit for the new fascia band sign. They were removed, and the sign permit was approved on August 31, 2000. They have now been re-installed. The three (3) temporary signs must be removed from the building on or before 7 days of receipt of this letter. Failure to remove these signs will result in a code violation that will be referred to the City Attorney's office for review and possible legal actions, including citation. Haven Drive No. Highlands, CA 95660 RE: PLN 2000-96 Sign Application for 509 Salmar Ave - Public Storage Dear Mr. Olsen: The Planning Division has reviewed and approved your reviewed your sign application for a new fascia band sign at the Public Storage at 509 Salmar Avenue. Under the Sign Ordinance, a commercial or industrial use is allowed only one wall sign which may measure no greater than one square foot of sign are for each linear foot of business frontage. No sign shall be greater than 50 square feet. Each parcel of land or commercial center is also permitted on freestanding sign. Haven Drive No. Highlands, CA 95660 RE: PLN 2000-96 Sign Application for 509 Salmar Ave - Public Storage Dear Mr. Olsen: The Planning Division has reviewed your sign application for a new fascia band sign at the Public Storage at 509 Salmar Avenue. Staff is unable to approve the proposed sign at this time since the existing signage on the property exceeds the amount of signage allowed under the Sign Ordinance. Currently there are four existing wall/banner signs on the property. One is located· near the front door and three are located on the side of the building/fence adjacent to Salmar Avenue. Under the Sign Ordinance, a commercial or industrial use is allowed only one wall sign which may measure no greater than one square foot of sign are for each linear foot of business frontage. No sign shall be greater than 50 square feet. Each parcel of land or commercial center is also permitted on freestanding sign. The proposed fascia band sign does meet the size and design requirements of the Sign Ordinance, but it cannot be approved since there are three other wall/banner signs on the property.
