Utility Waiver - 2002 CITY OF CAMPBELL
Community Development Department
CAMPBELL
August 14, 2002
Mr. Camran Farahani

Campbell, CA 95008
Underground Utility Waiver
301 Budd Avenue
Dear Mr. Farahani:
Please be advised that the Community Development Director with the concurrence of the
Land Development Manager, on behalf of the City Engineer, has reviewed your request to
permit overhead services in conjunction with the proposed upgrade of your electrical service
and the construction of a guest house on the above-referenced property in lieu of the
requirement to underground the utilities.
This request has been granted as a waiver of the requirement to underground utilities due to
the limited likelihood that other utility lines will be placed underground in your neighborhood
and the additional cost of having to underground the utility lines in relationship to the
proposed project. Please anticipate that the construction of a new residence on the rear flag lot
will require all services to be placed underground to that new residence.
This approval is final in ten days unless a written appeal letter and the required fee of $100.00 is
received at the City Clerk's Office, 70 N. First Street, Campbell on or before Monday, August 26,
2002.
If you should have any questions regarding this determination, please do not hesitate to
contact the undersigned at (408) 866-2144.
Sincerely,
Tim Haley

RE: Underground Utilities 301 Budd Avenue
Tim: Sounds as though we should waive this one as trenching across Budd for just a guest house addition would be an
onerous expense.

Lynn:
We have received a request to waive the undergrounding requirement for a utility upgrade to an existing residence. Do
you have an opinion on such requests? The applicant is constructing an attached guest cottage on the property thus
requiring a utility upgrade.
The utility location is the same and the service is across Budd Ave.
Thanks
Tim
