Dear Mr. Rees
Thank you for your submittal of a Fence Exception Application for a fence exception on property located
at 1350 Abbott Avenue. The COmniunity Development Department has received and reviewed your
application for a fence exception for the front yard property line of your property at 1350 Abbott Avenue.
Your application has been deemed incomplete. Additional information is needed in order to consider your
application. Please submit the following materials:
1. Plot Plan: Please provide the following information on the plot plan:
a. Dimension from centerline of street to property line.
b. Location of driveways on adjacent properties.
The Planning Division and Public Works Department have reviewed your application and have the
following comments:
1. Location: The proposed fence is located within the public right-of-way and a 5-foot Public
Utility Easement. The proposed fence cannot be constructed within the public right-of-way or the
5-foot easement.
2. Design: When a Fence Exception is requested for a taller fence or lesser setbacks in the required
front yard, the fence shall be of a decorative style and at least 50% open to the passage of light
and air. The proposed fence is 25% open to the passage oflight and air.

The property owner at 1350 Abbott Avenue is requesting approval of a Fence Exception
Application for a 6'-2" high fence within the front yard setback. He has obtained letters of
consent from the surrounding property owners. I have attached a site plan and assessors parcel
map for your review.
The Planning Division is supportive of the proposed application. Please forward your comments
