Thank you for your submittal of a preliminary application for the establishment of two monument signs at the
above referenced property. The subject property is presently zoned PD (Planned Development) and is
designated as a General Commercial Use on the City's General Plan Land Use Map. The Planning Division
completed the review of your preliminary application and has the following comments regarding your proposal:
Readerboard Signs: Your application proposes a Readerboard sign, which consists of 92 square feet. Staff
recommends the design be altered to meet the following requirements. Pursuant to Section 21.30.080 of the
Campbell Municipal Code, a service station; in addition to other signage, may be allowed fuel price signs as
follows:
a. A maximum of two Readerboard signs, not to exceed 16 square feet each, to be attached to an
approved freestanding sign, building, canopy, or secured to the property.
Sign Permit: A Sign Permit approves the proposed signage based upon the site plan and elevations. The
purpose of the Sign Permit review is to allow consideration of the application and it's consistency with the
requirement of the Municipal Code. Signage that meets the Municipal Code requirements will be reviewed by
the Community Development Director. If the signage exceeds the requirements for Readerboards, it will require
consideration by the Planning Commission through a public hearing process. A processing time of 45-60 days
is typical for this review process. An application for a Sign Permit is enclosed.
Building Permits: The applicant shall obtain any necessary building permits from the Building Division, prior
to sign installation.
Architectural Compatibility: Signs shall be constructed to be architecturally compatible with the buildings for
which they are associated.

contracted to apply for, process, and secure any permits as required to effect these
modifications.
