Re: Underground Utility Waiver

Dear Mr. Stryker:
Please be advised that the Community Development Director, with the concurrence of the City Engineer, has
reviewed your request to permit overhead utility services in conjunction with the remodel of your residence on
the above-referenced property in lieu of the requirement to underground the utilities.
Pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code section 21.18.140, this request has been granted for the following
reasons:
1. The existing utility pole across the public right-of way from the property;
2. The relocation of the utilities to the westerly side of the residence will reduce the length of the overhead
service;
3. The significant cost of installing utilities underground relative to the project cost; and
4. The likelihood that other overhead utility lines in the surrounding neighborhood will be placed
underground.
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned at (408) 866-2144 or via
email at timhna,ci ofcam bell.com.
Sincerely,
,,,~" ~ ' /

Subject: Request for waiver of underground utilities, at 1153 Lovell Ave
Dear Planning,
Please find Parcel maps and sit maps that will illuminate the situation at the subject
property.
I am requesting that undergrounding of utilities be waived for the following reasons:
1. There are no other houses on the street that have underground utilities. There is
little to no chance that undergrounding of utilities will ever occur on this street.
2. The overhead change tidies up the drops by getting them all on the same side.
Cable and phone are currently on the left side of the house.
3. I recently did an underground project and the cost is substantial amount
involving pg&e, phone, and cable t.v. The cost of which was aver $30,000.00.
Getting PG&E out to do work is also problematic in that they can take 6 months
or longer to get any action on theses projects. The cost of this type of project is
not possible for us.
4. The change of location from existing, or right side of house to the left side,
shortens up the span of drop, and raises the height over street improving the
existing situation.
5. The overall affect of the overhead change is an improvement over the existing
situation both visually and in function.
If you should have any questions please call me. My cell is 891-1416.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely ~ ~ _, /-
