Dear Mr. Dvomik:
Please be advised that the Community Development Director has reviewed your request to permit overhead
utility services in conjunction with the remodel and addition to your single-family residence on the above-
referenced properly in lieu of the requirement to underground the utilities.
Pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code section 21.18.140 (Undergrounding of Utilities), this request has been
granted for the following reasons:
1. The existing utility pole is in the rear yard of the property;
2. The relocation of the utilities to the proposed location will reduce the length of the overhead service;
3. The likelihood that other overhead utility lines in the surrounding neighborhood will be placed
underground; and
4. The significant cost of installing utilities underground relative to the project cost.

I am requesting a waiver for underground utilities for the remodel at 1285 Lorelei Court,
Campbell, CA 95008. My permit number BLD2006-565. I will be adding a second floor
and remodeling the existing first floor. In the plans that I have submitted to the City of
Campbell I show the location of the new power box. If I have to move the utilities
underground I would need to remove the entire concrete in back of the house and that
would require too much extra work. The cost of moving the utilities underground would
be in excess of $10,000. Leaving the existing utility box intact would be easier and more
cost effective. The new box will be moved 20 feet closer to the utility pole and will look
much nicer and will be compatible with the neighborhood and other pertinent
environmental features. Photographs and site plans are included.
