Dear Mr. Chu,
The Community Development Director conditionally approved your Fence Exception
application on October 20, 2008, to construct a six foot wood fence within five feet (6") of the
street-side (Grant Street) property line. The Community Development Director, upon
recommendation and review by the Public Works Department, has determined that the
requested Fence Exception satisfies the required findings as specified by Campbell Municipal
Code (CMC) § 21.18.060 (E):
1. Will not impair vehicular or pedestrian safety;
2. Will result in a more desirable site layout;
3. Will not be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort or general welfare of
persons residing or working in the neighborhood of the change; and
4. Will not be detrimental or injurious to property and improvements in the neighborhood or
to the general welfare of the City.
Your request for a Fence Exception has been approved, subject to the following conditions of
approval:
1. The fencing shall substantially conform to the revised plans stamped as received on
September 16, 2008.
2. The new fencing shall be of the same design, material, and height as the existing fence along
the Grant Street side property line.
3. The new fencing shall terminate into an operable gate.
4. The new fencing shall be built no less than 6 inches away from the back of sidewalk,
including around the sidewalk that extends around an existing street tree. The new fencing
shall not obstruct the sidewalk.
