Dear Property Owner:
Please be advised that the Community Development Director has reviewed your request to
permit overhead utility services in conjunction with the residential addition on the above-
referenced property in lieu of the requirement to underground the utilities.
Pursuant to Campbell Municipal Code Section 21.18.140 (Undergrounding of Utilities), this
request has been granted for the following reasons:
1. The existing utility pole is located in the rear yard where existing services to surrounding
properties will remain.
2. Due to the established character of the neighborhood and the location of utilities along
the rear of properties, it is not likely that other utility services will be relocated
underground in this neighborhood, and
3. The estimated cost of $16,000 to underground versus $75 for the relocation of service is
excessive in light of the visual benefit of eliminating one overhead power line.
