Application: Tree Removal Permit
Dear Mr. Peattie,
The Community Development Director has determined that the removal of an 'Aristocrat' Pear (Pyrus
calleryana) tree located at the above reference property was justified based on information previously
provided that demonstrated the tree presented an immediate threat to property and human safety. Resultingly,
your after-the-fact Tree Removal Permit (PLN2009-148) is valid.
As you are aware, this permit requires that a replacement tree be planted. Your application indicates that your
preference would be to plant to a Japanese Maple tree as a replacement. However, this property is part of a
planned development with consistent streetscape landscaping. As such, it is more appropriate to replant the
tree with another 'Aristocrat' Pear tree. Therefore, your Tree Removal Permit is approved subject to the
following Condition of Approval:
The applicant shall plant one (1) 24-inch box 'Aristocrat' Pear tree (Pyrus calleryana) tree. The
replacement tree shall be planted within 30 days of the effective date of this approval, unless
accepted horticultural practices dictate a preferential planting period.
This approval is final in 10 calendar days of the Community Development Director's decision, unless an appeal
is received in writing at the City of Campbell City Clerk's Office, on or before December 21, 2009. If an appeal
is received, you will be immediately notified of its receipt. Otherwise, you may plant the replacement tree at the
close of the 10 day appeal period.
If you have any questions regarding this approval, please contact me at (408) 866-2193 or via email at
