Pre-Application - 2006Pre-Application Written Description for proposed project at 2041-2043
S Winchester Blvd
1. Proposed Use
This project proposes the collocation of a wireless telecommunications facility on
an existing tree-pole located at 2041-2043 S Winchester Blvd. The project will
require raising the existing tree-pole by 10 feet (from the existing height of 55' to
65'). The equipment cabinets will be located within the existing fenced
compound currently utilized by Cingular Wireless.
The intent of this project is to provide wireless coverage to the downtown
Campbell area. Planning Staff was contacted twice to consult on options to
achieve this goal. Though the zoning designation is favorable in the downtown
corridor for wireless projects, Staff advised that sites selected (for location and
height) would not be welcomed by the City as any such installation would require
antennas to be located either above the roofline of candidate buildings or on the
Water Tower legs. When this collocation was proposed with the increase in
height to the tree-pole, Staff stated that this may be a feasible solution.
As mentioned above, this proposal will require raising the existing pole by 10
feet. The reason for this is that Cingular is located at SS' and their signal is
partially blocked by the building at 42 West Campbell Ave. Neither Cingular nor
T-Mobile can locate below this height and make effective utilization of this site.
Furthermore, Cingular and T-Mobile's antennas are required to have 10' vertical
separation between them, else the signals will interfere with one another.
2. Square Footage
The square footage of Cingular's existing fenced enclosure is 456 feet (12 x 38).
The proposed project will be completely within the existing fenced enclosure.
