HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD
CITY OF CAMPBELL, CALIFORNIA
After notification and public hearing as specified by law on the application
filed by the City of Campbell, to designate the Ainsley House as an Historic
Landmark, if placed on the Campbell Library North Site; and after presentation
by Planning Staff, and after testimony by proponents and opponents, the hearing
was closed. HPB 89-02.
After due consideration of all evidence presented, the Historic Preservation
Board did find as follows:
1. This "Ainsley House" embodies architectural features of the English Cottage
Style Period Revival.
2. The residence and the carriage house is the third dwelling of John Colpetts
Ainsley, a pioneer in the canning and fruit processing industry in the
Santa Clara Valley J.C. Ainsley Packing Company represented a significant
commercial and economic role in Campbell's growth and development.
Based on the above findings, the Historic Preservation Board does hereby
recommend that the Planning Commission and City Council take action to
designate the Ainsley House, as an Historic Landmark in the City of Campbell,
California.
