A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING DR. RHONDA FARBER ON HER RETIREMENT AS
SUPERINTENDENT OF THE CAMPBELL UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Dr. Rhonda Farber began her career with the Campbell Union School
District in 1972 as an English/Reading teacher at Leigh High School; was awarded
Teacher of the Year in 1979 and 1980; and served as the English Department Chair at
Blackford High School in 1982; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Rhonda Farber earned her Master's Degree in 1976 and her Ph.D. in
1980; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Rhonda Farber held various administrative positions in her career
serving at Blackford High School as Dean of Students in 1982 and Vice Principal in
1984, and Vice Principal at Westmont High School in 1986 prior to being named
Principal in 1987; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Rhonda Farber was appointed Director, then Assistant Superintendent
of Human Resources from 1995-1999, and became known to her colleagues as a
skilled negotiator and sound mediator; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Rhonda Farber was named the first woman Superintendent of the
Campbell Union High School District in 1999; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure as Superintendent, Dr. Rhonda Farber was an
invaluable leader in overseeing the reopening of Branham High School; the major
upgrading of all school facilities including new science and performing arts centers;
increased community participation and volunteerism; and the successful passage of
two parcel tax measures, a demonstration of voter support and trust in the District's
fiscal responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Rhonda Farber is a tireless volunteer and serves on the Boards and
Committees of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Silicon Valley Reads, STRIVE,
Silicon Valley Education Foundation, and CCS Eligibility Committee and Firefighter
Diversity; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure as teacher and administrator with the Campbell Union
High School District, Dr. Rhonda Farber devoted herself to advocating for every
student demonstrating her care and concern for the youth of this community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby recognize and commend Dr. Rhonda Farber for forty years of exemplary service
and leadership to the community and youth of the Campbell Union High School District,
and express sincere wishes for a happy and prosperous retirement.
