A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO SUBMIT A HIGHWAY SAFETY
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE DOWNTOWN
FLASHING BEACONS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Safety Improvement (HSIP) grant program is a
federal-funded program administered by Caltrans to encourage construction of cost-
effective highway safety improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, the Downtown Flashing Beacons Project is estimated to cost $150,000 to
design and construct; and
WHEREAS, the HSIP grant program requires aten-percent local match for the City of
Campbell; and
WHEREAS, a total of $15,000 would be required in Campbell local match funds; and
WHEREAS, potential sources include the City's Bicycle/Pedestrian Traffic Safety
Projects, CIP reserves, or construction tax funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Campbell
that the City Engineer is hereby authorized to submit a Federal Highway Safety
Improvement Program grant application for the Downtown Flashing Beacons Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Campbell will provide $15,000 in local
funds should the Safe Route to Schools Grant be awarded to the City of Campbell.
