BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL CONGRATULATING
ELIZABETH "LIZ" GIBBONS, 2013 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Elizabeth "Liz".Gibbons was selected by the Campbell Chamber of Commerce
as 2013 Citizen of the Year in recognition of her many years of volunteer service to the
Campbell community, arid will be honored at the annual "Celebrate Campbell" banquet on
March 22, 2014; and ~ .
WHEREAS, Elizabeth "Liz" Gibbons relocated to the Bay Area when an employment
opportunity became available with the City of Campbell Redevelopment Agency to manage the
Downtown Streetscape Project; and
WHEREAS, her Campbell roots quickly began to take hold when Liz became involved with the
Campbell Ainsley House "Great Gatsby Event" in 1991, followed by numerous volunteer
opportunities including serving on the Ainsley House and Historical Museum Board, joining the
Campbell Country Women's Club, and chairing two successful "Save Our Library" campaign
measures in 2005 and 2013; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth "Liz" Gibbons was appointed to the Campbell Planning Commission in
1996; served as Chairperson three times, and advocated for quality planning and development
within the City of Campbell during her tenure; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth "Liz" Gibbons, a licensed California Architect with over thirty years of
professional experience, served as President of the American Institute of Architects Santa Clara
Valley Chapter in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth "Liz" Gibbons serves as a community member on the Facilities
Committee of the San Jose Museum of Art, volunteers with Rebuilding Together, and mentors
local high students who are interested in architecture and engineering.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the -City Council of the City of Campbell
congratulate Elizabeth "Liz" Gibbons on being named Campbell's 2013 Citizen of the Year
and recognize her long standing service to the Campbell community and involvement in
community and civic projects.
