A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
COMMENDING CHIEF GREGORY S. FINCH ON HIS 28 YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, Chief Gregory S. Finch began his career with the City of Campbell as a
Police Officer in February of 1987 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1996, Captain in
2007, and Chief of Police in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch has served as a Field Training Officer, DARE Officer, Juvenile
Resource Officer, Investigations Supervisor, Crime Scene Response Team Member and
Supervisor, SWAT Team Member, SWAT Team Leader, and SWAT Team Commander;
and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch was awarded the Campbell Police Department Medal of
Meritorious Service and a Certificate of Valor from the State Attorney General in 1994;
and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch is a distinguished graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy Class
#218; and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch served as the Police Chief's representative on the County Drug
Task Force and Training Committee Chair; and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch is an instructor on a variety of Leadership and Law Enforcement
related topics; and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch was President of the Santa Clara County Police Chiefs
Association; and responsible for facilitating the Police Chiefs Annual Executive Training
Seminar: and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch has been responsible for managing the City of Campbell's Fire
Protection and Emergency Medical Services contract, the Animal Services contract, and
Emergency Disaster Preparedness for the City; and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch has demonstrated his dedication to public service and the field of
law enforcement by serving with distinction, honor, integrity, and excellence; and
WHEREAS, Chief Finch's guidance and leadership was instrumental in the development
of the next generation of Department leaders in which they will continue his legacy of
providing excellent Police services to the Community they serve; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
recognizes and commends Chief Gregory S. Finch on his retirement from the City of
Campbell after 28 years of service.
