CC Resolution 11723RESOLUTION NO. il~zs RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN WHEREAS, The City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell Municipal Code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for the reorganization of offices, departments, and positions which are considered to be in the best interest of efficient, effective and economical conduct of the municipal services provided by the City; and WHEREAS, Title 2, Section 2.16.020 of the Campbell Municipal Code provides that the City Council may, from time to time, by resolution, change the compensation of employees of said City, and may, by resolution, adopt salary and wage scales; and WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is needed to meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does hereby approve the revised class specification of Park Maintenance Lead Worker (Attachment B) and the revised class specification of Street Maintenance Lead Worker (Attachment C) as outlined in the Council Report. Waterman, Mayor ATTEST: Anne Bybee, City Clerk Attachment B CITY OF CAMPBELL PARK MAINTENANCE LEAD WORKER DEFINITION Under general supervision, assigns and supervises the work of and participates with personnel engaged in the maintenance, repair and upkeep of parks, park and recreational facilities, and street trees; performs skilled park maintenance work; monitors on a daily basis the condition of assigned areas; and does related work as required. TYPICAL DUTIES Receives and implements work plans and makes assignments in order to provide for the continuing maintenance and upkeep of parks, park and recreational facilities, and street trees; supervises a park crew and may be required to supervise the City's Alternate Work Program and other related work groups and volunteers and participates in a wide variety of tasks including general landscaping, tree removal and planting, tree surgery, pruning, watering and spraying, care and maintenance of shrubs and turf, and prevention, detection and treatment of plant diseases and insect pests; operates, maintains and repairs irrigation systems; trains personnel in proper care and use of park maintenance equipment and tools; inspects park grounds maintenance and/or park facilities and street trees on an ongoing basis including street tree and custodial work performed by contract personnel; maintains daily records and prepares maintenance schedules and routine reports; investigates complaints, and deals regularly with the general public; evaluates the performance of assigned employees; may be required to work weekends and holidays; and performs other related duties as required. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. TYPICAL DUTIES Receives and implements work plans and makes assignments in order to provide for the continuing maintenance and upkeep of streets, storm drains, traffic control and informational devices, and related facilities; provides direct supervision of a work crew and participates in a variety of tasks including traffic sign and legend repair and installation, sign fabrication, street and sidewalk removal, repair and reconstruction, street sanitation and storm sewer maintenance; estimates and orders materials for routine repairs, per Division policy; operates, maintains and trains others in the operation of construction equipment including rollers and asphalt breakers, airless and air operated paint machines, air compressors, dump trucks, backhoes/front-end loaders, street sweepers and generators; monitors the condition of streets and storm sewers on an ongoing basis; monitors routine work performed by contractors; maintains daily records and prepares maintenance schedules and routine reports; investigates complaints and deals regularly with the general public; evaluates the pertormance of assigned staff; may be required to work weekends and holidays; performs other related duties as assigned. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Four years of responsible experience in related public works maintenance and/or directly related construction or maintenance experience. Supervisory experience highly desirable. Knowledge of: Methods, tools, materials and equipment used in all phases of street and traffic control maintenance; basic supervisory principles and safe work practices; techniques of safe and effective traffic control; materials used in construction and maintenance of streets, storm sewers and traffic control devices.
