RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY PLAN
WHEREAS, The City Manager is required by Section 2.12.030 of the Campbell
Municipal Code to prepare and submit to the City Council recommendations for
the reorganization of offices, departments, and positions which are considered to
be in the best interest of efficient, effective and economical conduct of the
municipal services provided by the City; and
WHEREAS, Title 2, Section 2.16.020 of the Campbell Municipal Code provides
that the City Council may, from time to time, by resolution, change the
compensation of employees of said City, and may, by resolution, adopt salary and
wage scales; and
WHEREAS, a review has been conducted; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the current Classification and Salary Plan is
needed to meet the requirements of Municipal Code Section 2.12.030.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Campbell does hereby approve the revised class specification of Senior Musuem
Specialist (Attachment C) as outlined in the Council Report.

SENIOR MUSEUM SPECIALIST
DEFINITION
Under direction, to have general oversight of the Museum, within the Historic
Resources Division of the Recreation and Community Services Department,
including managing a collection of more than 10,000 photographs, documents,
and objects (including fine art, textiles, furniture, vehicles, and agricultural
equipment), as well as three historical structures; serve as Museum educator
and administrator; and, as needed, coordinate community outreach, public
relations activities, and fundraising and to do related work as required.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Education Programs-Schools:
Plan, schedule, develop, conduct and evaluate the Museum's educational
programs, including Hands-on-History and History Detectives school field trips;
develop and maintain outreach trunks; Work collaboratively with schools and
other agencies and organizations on behalf of the Museum; Maintain program
records and supplies; Work with Collections Specialist to select hands-on
artifacts for exhibits.
Education Programs-Public:
Develop family oriented event activities; Create programming for the Historical
Museum and Ainsley House; Contribute to Museum newsletter; Collaborate with
Collections Specialist with development of new exhibits; Respond to history
related requests, make public presentations, and interprets exhibits; Review and
implement policies related to public programs and fees.
Administrative:
Coordinate with Museum Collections Specialist and Building Maintenance on
care of the Museum structure and Ainsley House; Develop public information
and publicity materials; Prepare written reports, including to Civic Improvemeht
Commission; Assist with recruitment of docents and greeters lead volunteer
training; Collect and process program fees and Museum admissions; Maintain
relationship with local Campbell press, businesses, individuals, etc.; Recruit,
train, and supervise Museum staff including the Museum Collections Specialist,
Facility Manager, Facility Attendants, Guest Services, and Program Assistants;
Coordinate budget preparation and grant applications
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Public History, Museum
Education or related field and a minimum of four
years related experience and/or training in a
museum setting including developing public
programs, creating curriculum based programs for
schools, and managing volunteers and staff.
Knowledge of: Computer software including word-processing,
spreadsheets, graphics and publications.
