A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
THE MEMORANDUMS OF UNDERSTANDING WITH CAMPBELL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT
MORELAND UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT CAMPBELL UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
AND SANTA CLARA COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT FOR ATWO-YEAR PILOT PROGRAM
FOR YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IN THE CITY OF CAMPBELL AND AUTHORIZING BUDGET
ADJUSTMENT
WHEREAS the City Council approved the concepts recommended from the Youth Engagement
Steering Committee and directed staff to explore ways to establish a Youth Commission, create
and maintain ayouth-oriented website, develop a job faire for teens, and reinstate a work
experience program with the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS, the City and Campbell Union School District; Moreland Unified School District;
Campbell Union High School District and Santa Clara County Library District wish to form a
partnership for.atwo-year pilot program for youth engagement in the City of Campbell; and
WHEREAS as partriers, each agency would contribute funding and in-kind services for supplies
and program needs; appoint one staff member to serve on an advisory committee assist in
identifying students to apply to the Youth Commission; participate in the selection of the Youth
Commissioners; provide the Youth Services Coordinator access to student body on campus;
agree to support Youth Engagement Programs; and
WHEREAS the City would contribute funding to hire, supervise and train the Youth Services
Coordinator as a contract employee, contribute funding for program supplies and services;
convene regular meetings of an advisory committee; explore and implement short-term
recommendations as well as potential new youth engagement programs,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does
hereby authorize the City Manager to enter into Memorandums of Understanding with local
school districts and the County Library District in support of a two year pilot program for Youth
Engagement in the City of Campbell consistent with the foregoing recitals, with the total
contribution of City funds not to exceed $101 000
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the attached budget adjustment is hereby approved.
