A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLER CABINETS
FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLER CABINET REPLACEMENT PROJECT 14-FF
WHEREAS, the Traffic Signal Controller Cabinet Replacement Project 14-FF (Project)
is included in the City's Capital Improvement Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Project would purchase and install new Type P controller cabinets at
six signalized intersections in Campbell; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the purchase of this equipment prior to soliciting bids for
installing the equipment to avoid contractor's mark-up costs; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary engineer's estimate for purchasing six controller cabinets is
$73,000; and
WHEREAS, the City's purchasing policy requires Council approval of equipment
purchases exceeding $25,000; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends authorizing the Public Works Director to advertise and
award the equipment contract to the lowest responsible bidder in the amount not to
exceed $73,000 and to encumber a 10% contingency not to exceed $7,300 for a total
encumbrance of $80,300.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the Public
Works Director to advertise and award the equipment contract for controller cabinets to
the lowest responsible bidder in an amount not to exceed $73,000 and to encumber a
10% contingency not to exceed $7,300 for a total encumbrance of $80,300 for the
Traffic Signal Controller Cabinet Replacement Project 14-FF.
