A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL COMMENDING MARK CINDER
UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
WHEREAS, Mark Linder was appointed City Manager on February 5, 2013; and
WHEREAS, in his tenure as City Manager, the City maintained and improved its fiscal health,
and reinvested in capital infrastructure and enhanced services as demonstrated by:
• Redesign of the City's website and the launch of mobile apps to engage citizens in the
"Envision Campbell" General Plan Update and the Campbell Police Department.
• Implementation of a youth engagement program by re-establishing the Youth Commission
and High School Work Experience program.
• Built the City's reputation as a partner with regional government agencies, business groups,
schools, and neighborhoods by serving on numerous boards and working groups.
• Physical improvement to City parks and the Campbell Community Center gym, dance
studio, tennis courts, meeting rooms and exercise equipment.
• Increased resources to fund street maintenance and sidewalk enhancements.
• Unveiled innovative capital projects such as the Hacienda Avenue Green Street and East
Campbell Avenue Portals, both nationally recognized with multiple awards; and
WHEREAS, in his 30 years of public service, Mark Linder has held executive positons as the
Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Cupertino; Deputy City Manager, Assistant City
Manager, and Director of Parks and Recreation and Neighborhood Services for the City of San
Jose; Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Los Gatos and as the Assistant, General
Manager for the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District; and
WHEREAS, Mark Linder has served as a mentor and friend to many in public service by
providing wise guidance and support; and
WHEREAS, effective on December 31, 2016, Mark Linder will serve his last day as City
Manager, after a distinguished 30 year career in public service.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell does
hereby express its appreciation to Mark Linder for his valuable service as City Manager to the
City of Campbell, and wish him all the best in retirement. His service is appreciated and has left
an immeasurable mark on our community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 6th day of December, 2016 by the City Council of the City of
Campbell, California, as follows:
