A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMPBELL
AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO SUBMIT AN URBAN FOREST
MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES GRANT APPLICATION TO CAL FIRE FOR A TREE
INVENTORY, ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, in accordance with the state approved mandate, Cal Fire has allocated
funding for Urban & Community Forest activities and has established a competitive
Urban Forest Management Activities Grant Program (the Program) for projects that
provide greenhouse gas reduction within and near urban areas of California; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has identified the Urban Forest Tree
Inventory, Assessment and Management as a priority project; and
WHEREAS, staff believes that the Project meets the criteria for the Cal Fire Grant
Program; and
WHEREAS, the total project cost for the implementation of the Urban Forest Tree
Inventory, Assessment and Management Project is $200,000; and
WHEREAS, the Authority's Program requires applicants to provide at least 25% match
of project cost of cash or in-kind services; and
WHEREAS, if awarded grant funding for the projects, that the Public Works Department
has available sufficient funds to operate and maintain the projects.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Campbell
hereby authorizes the Public Works Director or designee to submit an application for
funding to Cal Fire's program in the amount of $150,000 for the Urban Forest Tree
Inventory, Assessment and Management Project.
